Yet that is what tops many minds
At the mention of Africa.

Not just a single country
But a continent with 54 sovereign countries
Yet many see one country
At the mention of Africa

Not only defined by disease and famine
The truth will definitely leave you speechless
Yet when any one mentions these
Most people think it is every African
Africa,
Poverty, war, greed, dictators,
People getting shot, robbed
While everyone watches in fear
The list goes on and on
In the minds of many about Africa.

Favourite a pie
Everyone that knows her truths wants a piece of her
They’d rather slice her up in the dark
Spread her dirty linen for all to see when light comes
So they can show how much they care.
It is now an African phenomenon.
Take this,
She is a marvel undeniable,
A beauty unseen to many
A mystery uncovered to many more
Yet we let the tabloids define an entire continent for us.
Take this,
Africa cannot afford to feed her own. So you say
Yet she can afford the arms that keep her war torn
The irony is yet old
But what else is there to say, About Africa?
Did you know,
There are far more people killed in the USA alone per day
A lot more than in the entire 54 countries of Africa combined?
Yet it is considered Not safe.
Did you know,
That Africa is the second largest continent
In both size and population
Bigger than Europe and North America combined.
Did you know,
The richest continent,
With almost every natural resource and mineral one can name
Is there in massive deposits in Africa?
Does that alone not lead you to question
Why then is Africa poor?
Did you know,
The Wealthiest person in history was African,
Civilisation, government as you know it also started in Africa
Writing, yes writing as you know it also begun in Africa.
Ok. Let that settle in for a moment.
The list can go on and on but allow me ask you a question,
What makes Africa different?
That is a difficult question.
Just like it is difficult for the African to convince you that
what you know about them is not the truth.
Africa is not any different
From anywhere else on this planet.
In fact, it is better than some
But we only say.
Every country is unique and beautiful in its own way.
